Laser Treatment Q & A

What is Spectra Laser Peel?

Spectra Laser Peel is a non-invasive procedure that stimulates the production of collagen to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The low-energy laser is painless and gently heats the skin to produce results.

In addition to skin rejuvenation, the Spectra Laser Peel is also used to lessen the appearance of acne scars, reduce skin redness, minimize pores, and remove hair.

You’ll notice results after only one session. However, Dr. Acosta recommends up to five sessions to get the full benefits of the treatment.

What are other laser treatments are available for skin health?

As an aesthetic specialist, Dr. Acosta offers other laser treatments to improve the appearance of your skin, including:

  • Fractionated CO2: to reduce appearance of acne scars, skin lesions, and fine lines
  • Erbium laser: to remove skin tags, warts, and other surface-level skin concerns

What is intense pulsed light rejuvenation?

Intense pulsed light, or IPL, rejuvenation is broad-spectrum light that penetrates into the skin to target cells with color. It’s used to treat a number of skin conditions, including:

  • Spider veins and broken capillaries
  • Age spots and sun-damaged skin
  • Acne Scars

The treatment also rejuvenates your skin and lessens the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and decreases pore size.

The light works by pinpointing the dark-colored cells and breaking them up. These cell fragments are then expelled by your body. Each session takes about 30 minutes, and Dr. Acosta recommends a course of five sessions to treat the affected area.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling isn’t a laser treatment, but it’s one of the newest methods used to improve skin appearance. The instrument, which looks like a pen, pokes tiny holes in the surface of your skin. These superficial wounds stimulate the production of collagen, which improves skin resiliency and lessens the appearance of wrinkles.

How is laser treatment used to melt fat?

In addition to having the most advanced methods of laser technology to improve the look of your skin, Primary Skin Care & Aesthetics also offers laser technology to help spot reduce stubborn areas of fat with the BTL Exilis™. This advanced technology combines radiofrequency and ultrasound to safely and effectively tighten your skin and melt fat in those problem areas.

Treatment only takes 15-30 minutes, and many patients undergo two to four sessions for best results. Your esthetician will recommend an individualized plan based on your needs.

Individual results for all of these treatments may vary.
